CCJDS Takes Giant Leap Toward a New Home!

Lafayette , California (February 25, 2008) The reviews are in … that is, from the City of Lafayette Design Review Committee and the City Planning Commission. The results: approval to move forward for the Contra Costa Jewish Day School!

This is a momentous event in our campaign to build a new school building for CCJDS.  We are excited to have formally filed for our Construction Permit just last week, so that ground breaking can occur in May. As you might have heard, our Ground Breaking Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 4th in the late afternoon, right before our Annual Gala event at the social hall at Temple Isaiah.

With shovels in hand, we will be ushering in a countdown toward the completion of an 18,000 square foot school building that will open by the start of the 2009-2010 school year. Our enrollment estimates call for an increase from 94 to 106 students next year, with a projected 178 students within seven years.

Our original campaign goal of $7.5 million is well within sight. But we are now seeking to raise an additional $1 million as a contingency for Phase I additions, to begin the planning, design, and implementation of a new playground, and to support the growth of the school.

A huge Todah Rabah to the entire community for stepping forward to get us to this point. Much work remains, but our future, and that of our children, is the great reward for our efforts.
