All About Alice- Information and Schedule for the School Musical
Performances- Thursday, March 27 th 7-9 PM AND Friday, March 28 th 2-4 PM
Our school musical, Alice in Wonderland Jr., provides an opportunity for students in all grades to have a fun and educational experience. Critical to the success of the show is clear communication and parent support. For the musical to work well parents must be aware of the rehearsal and performance commitments. The information below summarizes the rehearsal schedule and other items requiring your immediate attention. The rehearsal schedule can be found in this document.
The schedule is also available in CALENDAR FORM

NOTES to Alice in Wonderland Schedule and Calendar
Any changes to the schedule will be emailed and posted on the play bulletin board next to the elevator.
While participating in the musical is a wonderful experience, we understand if, due to after school schedule conflicts or other reasons, your child may not be able to participate. If you do not want your child to participate in the school musical please let Dean Goldfein, Head of School, know at deangoldfein@hotmail.com or simply stop by the school office to let Rebecca Murray know. However, we remain excited to have this be, as much as we can, an all-school experience.
Parent Information Meetings and Volunteer Signups - Wednesday, February 6 th from 2:15 to 2:45 and from 5:00-5:30. You need only attend one of these two sessions as they repeat the same information.
Please come to learn in greater detail about the production and to volunteer your services, helping make this play a great success. If you would like to volunteer or have questions please email Janlee Marshall, our Director, at whitemarsh98@comcast.net.
A Request from the Director
Our director, Janlee, has asked that parents who are not scheduled to be supervising students, or otherwise actively working on a task during rehearsal, to remain outside of the Social Hall until the end of the rehearsal. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Volunteer Opportunities
A partial list of volunteer jobs is listed below. More than one person is needed for most jobs. Our production’s success is dependent on the parents’ efforts and assistance is always needed. Please volunteer for at least one job at the meeting on February 6 th.
Costuming, Sets and props, Snacks, Homework zone coverage
Publicity and T-shirt contest, Box-Office, DVD Production, Sound, Lights
The Rehearsal Schedule
There are Five Different Groups of Students in the School Play. Each has a different Rehearsal Schedule.
Group I. 4 th – 8 Th Graders who auditioned
Group II. 2 nd – 3 rd Graders- Late Stay
Group III. 1 st- 3 rd Graders- Short Stay
Group IV. Kindergarten
Group V. Stage Crew
Group I. 4 th – 8 th Graders who auditioned.
These student actors are the lead performers in the play. They will be expected to be at auditions listed and to be models for, and helpers to, the younger students in the play.
Group II. 2 nd through 3 rd Graders- Late Stay
These student actors are making the commitment to being in a number of the larger scenes. There are great opportunities to learn and have fun but also some hard work and patience is required. Students must demonstrate a desire and ability to meet the more intensive requirements of this ensemble leadership role or they are better suited for Group III. First grade students may be allowed to participate in Group II but it is not encouraged. If you wish to have your first grade child participate in Group II see Mr. Goldfein.
Group III. 1 st through 3 rd Graders- Short Stay
This ensemble opportunity is important and fun but does not require as much rehearsal time commitment.
Group IV. Kindergarten
Our goal for the Kindergarten students is for them to have fun with the show. They will rehearse during the school day at their regularly scheduled drama time and on the limited number of dates shown on the attached schedule.
Group V. Stage Crew
This group of 4 th through 8 th graders will be responsible for backstage production needs.
NOTES TO ALICE IN WONDERLAND SCHEDULE AND CALENDAR
- PERSONAL CONFLICTS: The schedule was created so as to minimize all school, Jewish Holiday and student conflicts. We recognize that there may still be some personal conflicts. Please check the schedule and calendar carefully as soon as possible and please report all personal conflicts to the director, Janlee, no later than February 7.
- BASKETBALL GAME CONFLICTS: There are basketball games scheduled for Wednesday, February 20 (4th grade through middle school) and Thursday March 13 (middle school), plus one game still to be determined (4th - 5th grade). We are aware of the conflicts and will work to insure that all basketball players can make the games.
- SCHEDULE CHANGES: We will do our best not to modify this schedule, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, it is possible that changes will be required. Any changes will be transmitted as soon as we know of them.
- MONDAY, MARCH 10: There is no school on Monday, March 10 due to parent-teacher conferences. We are exploring the possibility of moving this rehearsal earlier in the day.
- SUNDAY, MARCH 16: We have no changes at this time, however, we may drop this rehearsal. More information as this develops.
- PURIM, MARCH 21: We are aware that many people will be attending Megillah readings in the evening of March 20 and there is a rehearsal scheduled for the afternoon of March 20. We are aware of the potential conflict and will address it in the near future.
- TECH WEEK, MARCH 23 TO 26: During Tech Week Groups III and IV will not be required to stay for the whole rehearsal.
- GROUP III: During Tech Week, Group III may leave when their scenes are completed and costumes are hung with care.
- GROUP IV: During Tech Week (and at performances), Group IV will be free to leave as soon as the opening sequence is completed.
